David Titov has been included in the Latvia Under-19s squad for a three-day training camp in Riga this week.
With the Elite Round of Qualifying for this summer’s Under-19 European Championships fast approaching, David has been handed an 11th hour chance to impress Aleksandra Basova and earn a spot in his squad for next month's qualifiers. As well as two training days, the group will also play a friendly against local side BFC Daugavpils at noon on Wednesday, 28 February.
Latvia will face FYR Macedonia, England, and Hungary in qualifying for the summer’s Championships in Finland with only the group winners going forward for the eight-team tournament in July. David could come up against Brentford B teammate, and England Under-19 goalkeeper, Ellery Balcombe in qualifying while Marcus Forss and Jaakko Oksanen are both likely to be included in hosts Finland’s squad for the finals. As well as that quartet, Mads Bech Sorensen and Lukas Talbro also have hopes of making it to the summer’s tournament as Denmark gear up for their qualifiers against Austria, Turkey, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
David joined the B Team in its inaugural year, signing from The Bees Under-16 squad. Comfortable at full-back and on the wing, David has made 23 appearances for Kevin O’Connor’s side this campaign, scoring his only goal in the 3-3 draw against Exeter City last month. The 18-year-old recently signed a new contract to commit his future to the club until the summer of 2019.
