A memorial service for Brentford FC Technical Director Robert Rowan will be held at Griffin Park tomorrow. Robert, 28, passed away on 12 November after suffering heart failure. He had been Technical Director at the Club since February and had been with Brentford for four years.
The Club has organised a memorial service where Robert’s life and his contribution to football, particularly Brentford FC, will be celebrated. This will be held at Griffin Park tomorrow, Thursday 13 December. It will start promptly at 5pm and run for around 45 minutes. Brentford FC fans are encouraged to attend and anyone who wants to celebrate Robert’s life will be welcome.
First Team and B Team players and staff will be present and staff from Griffin Park and Brentford FC Community Sports Trust will also be there. The Griffin Park gates will open at 4.30pm and attendees will be seated in the Braemar Road stand. The Hive will be open for a short period afterwards for those that want to meet and share their memories.
Speakers will include Phil Giles, the Club’s Co-Director of Football, Brentford B Head Coach Kevin O’Connor and defender Chris Mepham. The event will be led by Club Chaplain Stuart Cashman and some of the tributes that have been received from inside and outside the Club will be shared. We thank those that have told us that they wish to attend but even if you have not responded, you will be welcome. There will not, unfortunately, be parking available but the event will conclude before restrictions around Griffin Park come in to force at 6pm.
Robert’s family has also asked the Club to promote the charity Cardiac Risk in the Young to anyone wishing to donate. Brentford FC has a historic relationship with CRY as former manager Andy Scott, who worked closely with Robert when he was here as part of the scouting staff, is a patron of the charity. CRY’s logo was also carried on the Club’s kit during the 2008/09 season. There will be an opportunity to make donations at the memorial service or you can donate below
