Players lend a hand this Christmas

Out and about in the community this winter

18 December 2018

This Christmas, there have been a number of beneficiaries’ courtesy of the generosity of donations received from members of both the First Team and B Team squads of Brentford Football Club. Last Thursday, 13 December, the Club`s annual Senior Citizen`s Luncheon was supported by the players when each of the 80 people in attendance received a goodie bag together with a £10 supermarket voucher.

Yesterday, Monday, members of the B Team squad and staff visited the Starlight Children`s ward at West Middlesex University Hospital to hand out Christmas presents purchased on behalf of the players. A couple of weeks ago some of the First Team Squad visited FoodBox, a Hounslow based charity which provides food and support to those in need of help in the borough, to witness the sterling work of the volunteers. The players themselves also took part in the preparation of the food parcels and subsequently some of them have returned of their own accord with provisions.

In the New Year, once the support FoodBox receive at this time of year has diminished, funds will be donated from the sum raised in total by the two squads, to assist the Brentford based charity still further. In addition the players and staff are looking to support both the Starlight Ward and FoodBox in the New Year as ongoing projects in support of the local community.

More on last week's lunch and the hospital visit will follow later this week.
