Bonham, Shaibu, Ogbene get three points on Boxing Day

Catch up on the squad members out on loan throughout the EFL

28 December 2018

In Sky Bet League One, JACK BONHAM played the full 90 minutes between the sticks for Bristol Rovers as they won 3-1 away at Walsall on Wednesday. Tom Lockyer scored an early goal before Alex Rodman made it two within the first ten minutes.

Josh Gordon replied for The Saddlers but Rovers' Tareiq Holmes-Dennis finished things off after 52 minutes.

Matchday 25 sees them travel to face Oxford United, Brentford's FA Cup Third Round opponents, in a clash that sees 19th play 20th in the league. Six points separates the bottom six clubs in the table, adding even more to this game's billing.

JUSTIN SHAIBU played 71 minutes in Boreham Wood's 1-0 win over Barnet on Boxing Day in the Vanarama National League. The striker was brought off for the eventual match-winner in Bradley Ash, who struck two minutes from time to snatch all three points at Meadow Park.

The Wood are up to 11th in the table, maintaining a one-point lead over Barrow and now ten points away from the Play-Off places. They play 23rd placed Maidstone United tomorrow, Saturday 29 December, before a return trip to Barnet on New Year's Day.

Maidstone's JARVIS EDOBOR missed out on their 3-1 defeat to Dover Athletic in the week. Defender Rob Swaine was sent off in that encounter, opening the door for Jarvis to potentially come into the squad for tomorrow's match.

Back in the Sky Bet Championship, RYAN WOODS was brought off after 59 minutes in Stoke City's 2-0 loss to Birmingham City. Jacques Maghoma had given The Blues the lead in the first half, before it was sealed in the second by Omar Bogle.

Garry Monk's side are now two points off the Play-Offs, with Stoke in 11th. Bottom three side Bolton Wanderers host The Potters tomorrow at 3pm.

CHIEDOZIE OGBENE was brought on in the 74th minute against Yeovil Town, and then put the ball into the box for the winning goal in a 2-1 victory for The Grecians.

Jayden Stockley netted the winner after an earlier starter from Lee Holmes, with Yeovil's Thomas James scoring inbetween. Exeter are now fifth in League Two heading into a match against mid-table Grimsby Town tomorrow afternoon.

Elsewhere in League Two, THEO ARCHIBALD was an unused substitute in Forest Green Rovers' 4-1 win over Newport County. The Welsh side had Dan Butler sent off after 51 minutes, allowing the visitors to run away with the game.

They had hat-trick hero George Williams to thank for sending them up to seventh in the table. This weekend Forest Green take on Cheltenham Town, 20 miles away from home at Whaddon Road.

TOM FIELD missed out on the action for Town in their 3-1 win against MK Dons on Boxing Day. The Robins have climbed out of trouble in recent weeks, and are now 19th in the standings. Their New Year's Day fixture is a crucial match against Crawley Town in 18th.

The final member of the squad out on loan, REECE COLE, made his return to the bench on Boxing Day for Maidenhead United's 4-3 win over Aldershot Town. His former B Team teammate Herson Rodrigues Alves also went unused as United had Alfie Kilgour to thank for the winning goal after an hour.

Tomorrow at 3pm, United host bottom club Braintree Town in the Vanarama National League; a big game for the team just three places better off.
