Betting Preview: Sheffield Wednesday

Leo Vegas Sport UK take a look at tomorrow's match markets

18 August 2018

An opening day treat: check. A good point at Stoke: check. A huge League Cup win: check. It has been a dream start for the Bees, and at LeoVegas SPORT we are looking forward to more goals against Sheffield Wednesday. We make Brentford favourites at 11/20 and we are also eyeing the Bees to win both halves at 3/1.

Fans have been treated to free-flowing football with 10 goals in the last three games, and perhaps more significantly is the amount of goal scorers. Travelling fans were excited to see four different scorers in the 4-2 victory over Southend, bringing the total number of goal scorers to eight this season.

Dean Smith’s decision to elect a leadership committee instead of a club captain is giving the players that added boost in confidence and ownership of the club’s mentality and the style of play has been a delight to watch.

Smith opted to make no fewer than 11 changes against Southend and the cup game also gave him an opportunity to hand three full debuts as Marcus Forss, Said Benrahma and Julian Jeanvier all started, and took to the team like a duck to water with a debut goal each. A trio of maiden goals launched their careers at Brentford and we’re sure there’s more to come from the new boys.

Sheffield Wednesday’s campaign could not have started any worse with an opening day defeat to Wigan and a late red card. A home draw to Hull would have done little to boost confidence, and with both teams showing contrasting form, Brentford look good for the home victory. Having only conceded two league goals this season, the Bees also have a clean sheet in mind which is priced at 7/4.

Sunday’s home game against Wednesday is the perfect opportunity to carry on building momentum ahead of a tough midweek encounter at Aston Villa, and the Griffin Park faithful will turn out in numbers to back the Bees to win once more.

Leo’s Prediction: Brentford 2-0 Sheffield Wednesday, priced at 7/1

Goalscorer: Sergi Canos has made a bright start, and has scored in his last three at home, he’s at 13/2 to score first.

Top Tip: With such a huge number of different goalscorers so far this season, make sure to select your chosen scorer on our website, under the goalscorer tab.
