This weekend, both Boreham Wood and Forest Green Rovers were in action with squads including three Brentford loanees.
In Hertfordshire, The Wood named Ellery Balcombe in goal for their National League fixture against Halifax Town. Justin Shaibu missed out on the match day squad, which went on to win 2-1 at Meadow Park.
The home side were made to come from behind after a goal from Nathan Clarke with only 20 minutes to go. Charlton Athletic loanee Josh Umerah popped up with a brace to ensure The Wood completed a late comeback, his goals including a penalty in added time.
Elsewhere, Forest Green Rovers drew 1-1 with Swindon Town, with all the scoring done and dusted in the first quarter of an hour. Theo Archibald was an unused substitute on this occasion. Chris Doidge netted the first for The Green inside five minutes, only to see it cancelled out by a Michael Doughty penalty six minutes later.
Boreham Wood and Forest Green both have midweek fixtures coming up. The Wood are in action this afternoon, Monday 27 August, in the National League. They face Maidstone United in a clash between 15th and 16th in the table.
Rovers will be playing in the Second Round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night, 28 August, after progressing beyond Swindon in the opening encounter. They are up against League One Wycombe Wanderers in a 7.45pm kick-off at Adams Park.
A reminder that this week saw Reece Cole return from his loan spell with Yeovil Town after both Clubs agreed to a mutual termination of that deal. Full details are available online here.
