Forward Justin Shaibu got 22 minutes for Walsall as they drew 1-1 wih Oldham Athletic on Wednesday night. The Danish attacker helped The Saddlers to another point that helped them climb above the relegation zone and build a six-point gap to the teams in the bottom four.
The 20-year-old came on as a sub in the 68th minute at Boundary Park, replacing Julien Ngoy with the scores already level.
Jack Fitzwater broke the deadlock for the away side, reacting quickest to a ball that had bounced down off the crossbar following a Luke Leahy header. Fitzwater poked home the opener after 34 minutes.
The lead didn't last until the break. Wolves loanee Duckens Nazon cut inside from the left then fired a shot low, which Liam Roberts could only get a hand to on its way into the net. That was the scoring wrapped up after 45 minutes.
The Brentford Dane was involved when he got close to getting on the end of a cross by George Dobson late on. The ball just missed him but found Jon Guthrie, who forced a fine save from goalkeeper Johny Placide.
Walsall's next match sees them host AFC Wimbledon on Saturday 14 April, with only five games left to play in Sky Bet League One and The Wombles just two points behind them. The Saddlers will need to keep up their good form if they want to climb higher and rule out the possibility of relegation with time to spare.
