It was a disappointing Easter Monday for our loanees with two defeats and an abandonment from three games yesterday.
A Matt Green goal just before the interval condemned Jack Bonham and Carlisle United to defeat at home to Lincoln City as The Cumbrians lost ground in the Sky Bet League Two Play-Off race. The only goal came two minutes before the interval as Green beat the offside trap and rolled home past Jack. There was plenty of controversy after the interval with Carlisle having a penalty rescinded 15 minutes from time before Cumbrians midfielder Mike Jones was shown a second yellow card in injury-time. Defeat leaves Keith Curle’s side five points outside the top seven with five games to play.
Also in League Two, Ilias Chatzitheodoridis played 83 minutes as Cheltenham Town were beaten 2-1 by Exeter City at St James Park. Carl Winchester gave the visitors a 37th minute lead but former Brentford striker Robbie Simpson levelled before the break. The decisive goal came nine minutes from time with Jordan Storey thumping home a header from close range. Defeat means The Robins remain 15th as their season meanders towards a conclusion.
There was no action for Justin Shaibu and Walsall on Monday with their trip to League One Play-Off chasers Bradford City falling foul of the weather.
