Loan Round-Up: Jack Bonham wins battle of the loanees on Friday

Catch up with the latest from our boys out on loan this Easter

2 April 2018

There was Easter weekend action for our four players out on loan over the Bank Holiday.

In Sky Bet League Two, the battle between two of our young loanees went the way of Jack Bonham’s Carlisle United against Ilias Chatzitheodoridis and Cheltenham Town on Friday. A Jamie Devitt penalty 15 minutes from time settled affairs at the LCI Rail Stadium. Both Ilias and Jack played 90 minutes with the shut out Jack’s fourth in his last eight games and 13th in the league this season. The victory made it eight unbeaten for The Cumbrians and means they host Lincoln City today just four points off the Play-Offs. Cheltenham Town remain 15th ahead of this afternoon’s trip to Exeter City.

In Sky Bet League One, Justin Shaibu was a late substitute as Walsall fell to a fourth-straight league defeat on Friday. This time it was Portsmouth who proved too much for Dean Keats' side, a single Gareth Evans goal with 11 minutes to play settling matters at the Banks’ Stadium. Defeat means The Saddlers are now just four points above the drop zone in 18th. Their game against Bradford City this afternoon has been abandoned due to a waterlogged pitch at Valley Parade.

Konstantin Kerschbaumer and DSC Arminia Bielefeld took a point from their top-of-the-table clash against Holstein Kiel on Sunday. Both goals came early on with Brian Behrendt giving DSC the lead before Kingsley Schindler levelled for the men from the north of Germany. Konstantin played the full 90 minutes as DSC dropped to sixth, six points behind yesterday’s opponents in third, ahead of Sunday’s trip to fourth-placed Ingolstadt.
