Brentford Women’s FC Development Team got their season up-and-running in superb style after an 8-0 demolition of Tower Hamlets Reserves at Lampton School on Sunday.
Emily Reynolds scored four and Rhia Benjamin netted three as The Bees overawed their opponents in TW5. Anna Gelderblom added the other as The Bees racked up an impressive first win of the season. The victory moves Justin Ali’s side up to fifth in the Greater London Women’s Football League Division Three North table ahead of next Sunday’s trip to New London Lionesses Development.
It was a different story for the First Team, however, as they passed up a host of chances in their 2-0 defeat to Clapham United on Clapham Common. The home side took a first-half lead through Kate Fidler and wrapped up the points late on with a debatable penalty converted by Donya Wilson. In between times, Dana Johnson, Nadia Peters, Janae Pine, and Gel Burgess all passed up great chances to get The Bees back into the game. The defeat leaves The Bees eighth in Division One with Bromley Ladies FC visiting Lampton School on Sunday.
