Sergi Canos played just over an hour of football in a behind closed doors friendly yesterday. After the match, he spoke to iFollow about his fitness and how he sees the 2017/18 campaign so far.

"I've been four weeks out," said Sergi, "a bit more than four weeks, so it was nice to be playing football again.

"I'm feeling very good, I think I'm ready to go and I hope to be back next week, it's important for the team and for me that we can build up to the Aston Villa game."

Brentford have picked up two points from their opening five games, Sergi missing all of them through an injury he sustained in pre-season. Looking on from the sidelines, he says, has been difficult.

"It's been tough," said Sergi, "but it's tougher from the sidelines. It's hard when you can't help the team. It's a tough league, I've always said it's a tough league. Now everyone is going to have a break and then we will be ready to go again.

"It will be very tough but every single game in this league is tough. We have to make sure we are ready for the Aston Villa and then Sheffield Wednesday, we need some results.

"We have got a really good team and we will show everyone that we are a really good team.

"Obviously, I can't wait to see my family but also I can't wait to start next week and switch on to the Aston Villa game. I can't wait for it."
