Marcus Forss spoke to iFollow after Brentford B lost 4-1 to Luton Town XI at Jersey Road on Tuesday. Coming on as a second half sub, Marcus felt it was always going to be a tough test against a good side.
"We didn't start very well," said Marcus. "We got into the game once we got going. In the second half we made a massive improvement on the performance and that showed.
"I thought I did well when I came on, it was a very physical game. We aren't really used to that and it was a good test for us because we were playing against men.
"We made a couple of mistakes, we didn't react in the right way. We cut them out as the half went on."
Marcus has just returned from a trip to Berlin with the B Team, where the squad played two matches against Legia Warsaw and Hertha Berlin II. The 18-year-old compared the two matches and found several differences.
"It was more technical football abroad, whereas today was more physical and that was something we had to deal with.
"Kevin [O'Connor] wanted us to compete against them, match them and even better them. Even when it got going and the challenges became very physical, we needed to compete.
"The games were a different experience in Germany, that's what it's all about. It was a good bonding trip as well, getting to know everyone better in the team. That helps us get to know each other on the field too."
Marcus is also a part of the Finland youth setup and recently came back from a period away with them as well, during which time they suffered two defeats.
"It was really good to be out there, the results were tough to take but we will be better next time and I always enjoy joining up with the squad.
"With so many players away, when we come back it's good because we learn from everybody around us. We hear about what it was like when they went out on international duty and that helps us improve ourselves as a team."
