None of Jack Bonham, Reece Cole, or Tom Field were involved last night as their loan clubs suffered differing fortunes in Sky Bet League One and Sky Bet League Two.
In League One, Tom watched on from the bench as Uwe Rosler’s Fleetwood Town scored three goals in 19 second-half minutes to take the points at the Northern Commercials Stadium. Bradford could have gone second with a win but former Bantams Jordy Hiwula and Devante Cole scored within 11 minutes of the restart before Ashley Hunter wrapped up the points 20 minutes from time. Defeat saw Stuart McCall’s side drop to fourth in the table ahead of Saturday’s visit from Doncaster Rovers.
Tuesday night’s League Two action saw a pair of howlers from Liverpool loanee Shamal George consign Carlisle United to defeat at home to Stevenage. The 19-year-old, who replaced Jack Bonham earlier this month, dropped the ball at the feet of Ben Kennedy for Stevenage’s first and then allowed a tame Tom Pett header to slip through his fingers for the visitors second. Keith Curle’s side will be looking to avoid a fourth defeat in six when they make the long journey south to Crawley Town on Saturday.
There was better, however, for Reece Cole’s Newport County as a pair of Mickey Demetriou headers made it back-to-back wins for The Exiles. Mark Connelly nodded Crawley Town ahead on the half-hour but Demetriou responded with goals ten minutes either side of the break for the Welsh side. That win sends Mike Flynn’s side back into the League Two play-off places with a trip to Luton Town to look forward to this weekend.
The other fixtures involving Brentford players this weekend see table-topping FC Nordsjaelland and Emiliano Marcondes travel to Silkeborg in the Danish Superliga while Konstantin Kerschbaumer’s Arminia Bielefeld head to Nürnberg.
