Marcondes on target in FCN defeat

The latest from our players out and about across Europe

Emiliano Marcondes’ fourth goal in three Danish Superliga games wasn’t enough to secure the points for FC Nordsjaelland as they were beaten 2-1 at home by Aarhus GF on Monday. After a goalless first-half the visitors struck six minutes after the break through Martin Spelmann, Jakob Ankersen adding a second on the hour. Emiliano reduced the arrears with a fine free-kick late on but the visitors held on to inflict just a second league defeat of the season on FCN. SönderjyskE are the visitors to Right to Dream Park tonight as FCN look to get back to winning ways on home soil.

In Germany on Wednesday, Arminia Bielefeld left it late to beat SG Dynamo Dresden. Konstantin Kerschbaumer came off the bench with just over a quarter of an hour to go and the game still goalless. Five minutes later DSC took the lead through Andreas Voglsammer and they then wrapped it up in injury-time as Patrick Weihrauch scored into an unguarded net from half-way. The victory keeps Bielefeld sixth in the table ahead of tomorrow’s home game against Heidenheim.

Also hoping to be in action this weekend will be Tom Field as Bradford City head to resurgent Northampton Town while Reece Cole and Newport County host Grimsby Town and Jack Bonham’s Carlisle United visit Crewe Alexandra. Zain Westbrooke will be hoping for a Solihull Moors recall after serving a three-game suspension as they welcome Dagenham and Redbridge in the National League.
