Dozens of Brentford supporters turned up at Griffin Park this evening question some of the Club’s key figures. The Club arranged a Fans’ Forum this evening, Thursday 7 September, and questions came in from both the assembled supporters and those watching a live stream of the event. Brentford Chairman Cliff Crown, Chief Executive Mark Devlin, Co-Directors of Football Rasmus Ankersen and Phil Giles, and Head Coach Dean Smith were all available and addressed the questions posed.
The evening started with Cliff taking questions on the Brentford Community Stadium project. The Club is soon to submit an application to Hounslow Council to amend the plans for the stadium and Cliff answered on a range of topics including the potential of sharing with a rugby club, and what plans were in place to ensure a fine playing surface if that happens, to what facilities would be available to fans with disabilities.
Rasmus updated fans on the Brentford B project and how the Club attracts players given the financial disadvantage faced to others in the Championship while Dean addressed questions on the make-up of his squad and the captaincy. News that the Premier League may change the Summer Transfer Window was discussed and Phil outlined some of the reasons behind Brentford’s business in the window that has just closed.
Mark answered questions on how the Club is trying to grow its fanbase as well as how Griffin Park could host Premier League football and whether the terraces could remain if The Bees stay in the Championship until the new stadium is ready. The event was streamed in full on the Club’s YouTube channel and the full video will be able to watch shortly.
