Sergi Canós made his comeback from injury on Saturday as a late substitution during Brentford's 3-3 draw with Sunderland. The Spanish winger is about to face Inter Milan in Italy with Brentford B. He sat down with iFollow to talk about the differences between these experiences.
"It was great to be back," said Sergi. "I had been waiting for this moment since I got injured, and then I got injured again. It was amazing, the reception from the fans and having my family in the crowd. I couldn't ask for more.
"The team showed really good character from losing 3-1 to draw the game. We were in the dressing room at half time and everyone believed we could win the game, even at two goals down.
"We shouldn't even be in that situation, we are better than a lot of teams in the league and we shouldn't be conceding three goals at home. This is one thing we have to look at and improve."
Sergi will continue his recovery from injury with some game time in Italy with Brentford B. The Spaniard told iFollow about how he is getting on with his fitness.
"I'm feeling back to normal," said Sergi. "I'm feeling better every day but I also feel that I need a lot more game time. I feel like everyone else is another another gear to me and that's why I have come to play with the B Team. I want to improve my fitness as soon as possible and get back into the team."
Sergi is happy that he can rely on the B Team to give him competitive game time, something he needs to experience if he is to get back to full fitness quickly.
"I was talking with my friends in Spain, they play at Valencia and Villarreal. They can't do this. They can't drop down to the B Team and play a game because they've been injured. This is one thing that will help us at Brentford.
"You can see, even in training that the B Team is getting a lot of confidence and they have got really good players. That helps the First Team also because when we need someone to come and train with us they show that they can be in our team and in that group."
With Brentford B set to face Inter Milan tomorrow, Wednesday 24 October, Sergi is hoping he can get as much from the game as possible. He also mentioned that as a First Team player, his time here can be used to talk to some of the younger boys in the squad.
"I want to feel like myself again, I will try and get as much game time to improve my fitness levels. That's all I want, to be back to myself as soon as possible.
"Of course I hope I can be someone to look up to. I want them to ask me questions, if they want advice I am here for anything because I have been one of them not long ago.
"For me when I was at Liverpool, when I could speak to Coutinho or Sakho when they played in the younger teams, it was amazing and they were just like one of us. So yes, it's nice to be that for these players."
