Match: Atalanta vs Brentford B, Wednesday 18 October 2017, 15:00 BST.
The B team will face a strong youth side from Atalanta in this afternoon's match. Ranked as one of the best youth acadamies in world football, the older generations of youngsters at the Club play men's football in national and regional divisions. In the past two decades, the youth squads have won 17 national titles.
Stefano Bonaccorso, Head of the setup in Bergamo, has pushed their youngsters further in recent years than many other Italian sides. They have always been known to produce talent, including Italian World Cup winners Gaetano Scirea and Antonio Cabrini. It's something that has earned the Club their global reputation for producing talented youngsters capable of First Team football.
Some of the players likely to be on display include Musa Barrow, a young striker who has scored seven goals in his last four starts. Highlighted for his work in summer tournaments, Andrea Rinaldi from the midfield would also cause any team trouble at the back.
Graduates of the so-called 'School of Football' also include Southampton's Manolo Gabbiadini and AC Milan's Riccardo Montolivo. More recently, both attacker Andrea Petagna, 22, and defender Mattia Caldera, also 22, have made big strides in their careers. Caldera just moved to Juventus but has been loaned back to Atalanta for the year.
A note on Brentford B
Kevin O'Connor will be without the services of Zain Westbrooke, who recently joined Leyton Orient on loan. Henrik Johansson misses out again as he continues his rehabilitation from a muscle injury he picked up at the end of last season. Three trialists have also joined the squad in Northern Italy and could be picked to represent The Bees in this opening match of the tour.
Brentford will be covering the game live from Atalanta's training ground in Northern Italy, providing updates on the Club's Twitter feed. A full match report will follow on brentfordfc.com, as well as post-match reaction from B Team Head Coach Kevin O'Connor and others.
