Bees sit out mixed results for loan clubs

No game time for Tom Field or Zan Westbrooke in midweek matches

25 October 2017

Two young Brentford players sat out matches for their loan teams last night. Neither Tom Field, who is on loan at Bradford City, nor Zain Westbrooke, who is at Leyton Orient, were involved in games played by their teams last night. And there were mixed results for their loan clubs.

Bradford beat Manchester City Under-23 in the Checkatrade Trophy last night. Bradford took a 2-0 half time lead and then held on as their visitors came back in the second half. The 2-1 win means Bradford have two victories from two matches will definitely progress to the next stage whatever the result of their third group game, against Rotherham United early next month. Tom was not named in the matchday squad.

In East London, B Team midfield player Zain sat on the substitute’s bench as Leyton Orient were beaten 2-0 by Gateshead. The North-East side grabbed an early lead and then sealed the game late on in the relegation six-pointer. Orient now sit 19th in the Vanarama National League and are just four points clear of the drop zone.

Brentford have two more players still at loan clubs – Konstantin Kerschbaumer at for German second tier side DSC Arminia Bielefeld and Jack Bonham at Sky Bet League Two Carlisle United. B Team midfield player Reece Cole is still officially on loan at League Two Newport County but is back in West London recovering from an injury.
