B Team Head Coach Kevin O'Connor was in a good mood following his team's performance against Atalanta on Wednesday evening. Goals from Raphael Assibey-Mensah and Joe Hardy earned Brentford a 2-2 draw.
"I was pleased with the performance," said Kevin, speaking to iFollow after the final whistle. "I thought it was a really good test again, on AstroTurf, which we were unaware of before the game until we got here. That was interesting.
"The boys gave it everything they had and we created some good chances. If we were a little bit more clinical, I think we could have won the game.
"Again, we went one-nil down and then two-one down so it was really pleasing to get back into the game like we did.
"Overall, I'm pleased and we take that into AC Milan on Saturday."
After seeing his side perform well against top young opposition like Wednesday's hosts, it seemed fair to ask him about the looming ties with Inter and AC Milan.
"The name says it all," said Kevin. "They are going to be two very good teams. This is the top level for our age, and to come here to Atalanta today, they are all top teams so it's an amazing test and a challenge. The whole experience should do the boys good.
"The boys are getting used to travelling and what is expected, which is good. I think the performances are slowly improving on tour as well, and today was another good one. In the last 15 minutes, we were still going strong so that was pleasing.
"It's going to be two tough games in the next five or six days, so it's another test physically but hopefully we'll do alright."
