Josh Clarke feels the recent international break has given Brentford a chance to take stock after the opening months of the season. The Bees headed into the break on the back of just one defeat in seven in the league and Josh feels they are in a good place heading into Saturday’s visit from Millwall.
“We are still working hard and going over things that we need to work on,” said Josh, during the break. “The lads are looking sharp so we just have to push on. We are all looking forward to the game. We have to take our chances. Possession wise we are up there but it is up to us to take those chances.”
The 22-year-old was pressed into emergency service at left-back during the team’s 2-2 draw at The Riverside Stadium ten days ago due to the injury suffered by Rico Henry. With Rico set to be out long-term, Josh said he is willing to help out how he can to fill Rico’s void.
“It was a bit awkward at first because I had never played there before,” admitted Josh, talking about his stint at left-back. “It was a big game so I had to deal with it and get on with it to try and help the team to a win. As long as I am playing and playing well I have to adapt to the position and work on things in training.”
