Yoann Barbet said that “it was a great night” for Brentford following the 3-1 victory over Leeds United. The Bees were pegged back following Neal Maupay’s opener – Ezgjan Alioski heading home following a mistake from Dan Bentley – but Yoann’s free-kick and a late Ryan Woods finish secured the home side’s third victory in as many matches.
“It was a great night for us to make it three victories out of three,” Yoann told iFollow Brentford. “I thought that we played really well during the first half and should have gone in with more than a one-goal advantage. They were better during the second half and deserved to score, but we kept going and got the win.”
The Frenchman was quick to defend goalkeeper Dan Bentley following his error which led to The Whites’ opener: “It happens. Bents has saved us a lot of times already this year; he made a mistake but we still have the three points - I'm happy we got the win for him.”
With a fortnight to go until Dean Smith’s side next kick a ball in anger, Yoann said that the upcoming international break will provide some welcome respite:
“We have to refresh our minds and then try to extend our unbeaten run for as long as possible. We're in a good way at the moment but we won before the last international break, too. We have a lot of games so it'll be good to have a bit of a rest before the three games next month.”
Yoann reserved special praise for The Bees faithful having made it nine unbeaten in the Sky Bet Championship in front of a bustling Griffin Park: “There were nearly 800 at Birmingham and they made a lot of noise and tonight was the same - the atmosphere was brilliant. I hope that they can keep going like this and we can continue to repay them.”
