The FIFA World Cup is next summer and we all hope that Gareth Southgate's young and promising squad will follow in the footsteps of Geoff Hurst and Bobby Moore who lifted the famous trophy in 1966.
Our Commercial Manager Mike Sullivan is delighted to offer you the opportunity to meet one of the most iconic football legends in the country. Mike remembers the day England that became world champions:
“The game will not only be remembered as the day that England beat Germany 4-2 after extra time, but also because history was made when England’s Geoff Hurst became the only man to score a hat-trick in a World Cup Final. We will never know whether the third England goal was over the line. After the game and later that evening, when my mates and I played football with a plastic white ball bought from Woolworth’s and our jumpers acting as goal posts on the Village Green, the game was replayed over and over again with us all taking turns to be Geoff Hurst, England’s goal scoring hat-trick hero of the day.
Since then, I have been lucky enough to have spoken to Sir Geoff many times. Every time I see him, my mind can’t help going back to that very special July day in 1966, when his hat-trick of goals helped England to become champions of the world."
You can also meet the only man to score a hat-trick in a World Cup Final by joining us on Thursday 23 November. The event is sponsored by Brentford FC Lifeline Society and will take place at the Radisson Blue Edwardian, Heathrow, UB3 5AW.
