Kevin O’Connor’s Brentford B are playing Huddersfield Town this morning in a friendly at the Premier League side’s training ground.
The B Team are hoping to improve on the two defeats suffered in the last week to Swansea City and AFC Bournemouth.
In South Wales, The Bees were outclassed by a clinical Swansea side, losing 6-2 in a game that was 2-1 at half time. Despite strikes from a Brentford Trialist and Marcus Forss, the hosts proved too powerful for Brentford’s second squad.
Back at Jersey Road on Saturday, The Cherries completed a 3-0 win over their hosts by scoring two in the first half and another in the second.
Fullback David Titov reflected after the game; “After the performance in Swansea, I thought we were ready to step up. Training looked good, everyone was up for it, but we came out and just couldn't seem to get a goal.
”I thought they were more clinical. They created a few more chances but they also managed to take a few of them.” David’s full interview can be found here.
The last time these sides met at a similar age group was in an Under-21 Development League game in April 2016. That day, under the guidance of Flemming Pedersen, The Bees lost 4-0 in the pouring rain of Canalside.
Fraser Horsfall, Jake Charles, Rekeil Pyke and substitute Jack Boyle scored past Ellery Balcombe that day. The rest of the team comprised; Nathan Fox, Tom Field, Zain Westbrooke, Chris Mepham, Jan Holldack, Herson Alves, Reece Cole, Bradley Clayton, Jermaine Udumaga and Josh Bohui.
Only one of those starting players will return to the same venue for this friendly rematch; Clayton is in the squad that have travelled North for the fixture.
Coming on as a sub that day, Jarvis Edobor is one of the B Team’s current first choice centre-backs and has also travelled with the team. On Saturday, against Bournemouth, Jarvis made his 50th appearance for Brentford B.
Reece Cole and Herson Rodrigues Alves, who also played that day, miss out on this season’s trip through injury.
