Ellery Balcombe heading to Bulgaria with England

Goalkeeper called up to Under-19 squad for European Championships first qualifying round

2 November 2017

Brentford's young goalkeeper Ellery Balcombe has been included in Paul Simpson's squad as England's Under-19s begin their defence of their European Championship title next week in Bulgaria.

The Young Lions will face opposition from Iceland, Faroe Islands and the host nation in Stara Zagora, with the top two nations in the group progressing to the Elite Round next March ahead of next summer's tournament in Finland.

All three games will be played at the Trace Arena with the Faroe Islands first up on Wednesday 8 November before a game against Iceland three days later and the final game against Bulgaria on Tuesday 14 November.

Ellery, who was part of the England group which won the Toulon Tournament in the summer, has earned two caps at Under-19 level, the most recent of which came in last month's 2-2 draw against Slovakia. In total, Ellery has earned six caps across various age groups for his nation.
