Harlee Dean has capped off a superb season by picking up the 2016/17 Brentford FC Supporters’ Player of the Year Trophy at this evening’s Player of the Year Awards Dinner. The Bees’ captain received nearly half of the votes cast, beating Ryan Woods and Jota into second and third place respectively. The award was presented at the Radisson Blu Edwardian by Robert Barrett, New Homes Director at Rolfe East, Sponsors of tonight’s event.
Handed the captain’s armband at the start of the season, Harlee has been immense at the heart of The Bees defence this season, making 45 appearances in all competitions. The 25-year-old also contributed three goals, finding the net in the wins over Preston North End and Sheffield Wednesday and the 3-3 draw against Brighton and Hove Albion.
This was Harlee’s sixth season at Brentford which he joined, initially on loan, in November 2011. The defender signed permanently the following summer and went on to score in the 2012/13 Play-Off final defeat against Yeovil Town. He made 33 appearances the following season as The Bees won promotion to the second-tier. In three seasons in the Sky Bet Championship, Harlee has made 121 league appearances, helping the team to three consecutive top ten finishes for the first time in 65 years. In total, Harlee has made 246 appearances in all competitions for Brentford, scoring ten goals.
