Brentford B centre-back Chris Mepham has been called up to the Wales Under-20 squad ahead of the Toulon Tournament in the south of France later this month. The 19-year-old has been called up as an injury replacement for Fulham defender Aron Davies.
Wales get their campaign underway this Tuesday, 30 May, with a game against the hosts France at Stade de Lattre-de-Tassigny, Aubagne, kick-off 6.30pm. They then take on Bahrain three days later at Stade Parsemain, Fos-sur-Mer, kick-off 4pm. Their final group game is back at the Stade de Lattre-de-Tassigny, Aubagne against Ivory Coast on Monday 5 June, kick-off 4pm.
The three group winners qualify for the semi-finals alongside the best second-placed side. Chris will be one of three Brentford players competiting in the 45th edition of the prestigious youth football tournament alongside Scotland's Theo Archibald and England's Ellery Balcombe.
Chris has enjoyed a successful season with Kevin O'Connor's B Team this season winning the B Team Player of the Year award as well as making his first-team debut as a late substitute against Eastleigh in The Bees Emirates FA Cup Third Round win back in January.
