Women's Report: Bees put five past Luton Town Development

13 March 2017

Ryan Peters's side record comfortable victory on Sunday

Mollie Holmes scored twice from the penalty spot as Brentford Women’s FC brushed aside Luton Town Development 5-0 at Lampton School on Sunday afternoon. All the goals came in a dominant first-half as Ryan Peters’ side all-but wrapped up a fourth-place finish in the Greater London Women’s Football League Division One.

Sinae Prendergast opened the scoring early on as she raced clear and kept her composure to round the Luton keeper. It was two shortly after as Mollie Holmes kept her cool from 12 yards after Sophie Troth had been fouled inside the box. Nadia Peters then added a third after a Jenn Amols Brett corner wasn’t properly cleared.

Holmes got her second following a handball inside the area and the scoring was completed at the end of a one-sided first-half as Troth headed home Lisa Grant’s free-kick. The Bees had chances to add to their tally in the second-half but had to settle for five. Next Sunday sees Peters’ side complete their league campaign with the return fixture against The Hatters.

Brentford Development ended their season on a disappointing note after a 5-2 defeat at Surrey Eagles Reserves. Bahrati Keeping scored both goals for The Bees but it wasn’t enough to prevent the defeat which confirms an eighth-place finish in Division Three South.
