Romaine Sawyers played 90 minutes for St Kitts and Nevis in a friendly international against Georgia yesterday. Brentford’s attacking midfield player won his 21st cap, and his third since joining The Bees just under a year ago, in the match. Unfortunately for Romaine and St Kitts, Georgia won the match 3-0. The game was level at the break but the Eastern European side scored three without reply after the interval.
Giorgi Arabidze, of Shakhtar Donetsk scored twice, the second from the penalty spot, before Vladimer Dvalishvili added a third. Romaine played the full game for the Caribbean country but could not prevent the loss. It was the second defeat in four days for St Kitts, who were beaten by Armenia on Sunday.
There is further international action on the agenda for Brentford players over the next few days. Ellery Balcombe will be hoping to be involved as England Under-20 play Scotland in the semi-final of the Toulon Tournament in France while fellow B Team player Lukas Talbro could feature for Denmark Under-18. There are also upcoming World Cup qualifiers for Republic of Ireland, who have John Egan in their squad, and Denmark, who could use Andreas Bjelland, Henrik Dalsgaard and Lasse Vibe.
