Brentford B started their pre-season fixture list with a 4-0 win over Hungarian second division side ETO Gyor yesterday.
Ali Coote scored a brace on his Brentford debut that was followed up by a spot-kick from captain Zain Westbrooke. Both of them spoke to brentfordfc.com moments after the final whistle.
"I think it was a tough test," said Zain. "They were a good side, physically and technically. Today, first half and second half, I thought we were better than them. In our box we were determined not to concede and in their box we were clinical.
"I think when the first two goals went in, we weren't exactly on top, but we made the game a lot easier for ourselves."
Ali, netting twice, was happy to just have notched some game time. He said: "It's good, pre-season is just about getting minutes and fitness, that's the main thing. I think the goals are just a bonus really.
"The boys have been really welcoming. There's a good positive vibe about the group and I've really enjoyed my time so far. Hopefully today will make that initial stage easier."
Zain added: "I think you want to be as ready for the season as you can be, and you need to get in these games and need to make sure you come out of them fit and healthy. You also need to get as many minutes as possible to ensure you are ready for the year ahead.
"I want to get as many goals as I can this season and one in the first game is a good start."
The B Team's next fixture is against MSK Zilina on Friday. Full coverage will be available on brentfordfc.com.
