Jack Bonham made his first appearance in a Carlisle United shirt on Saturday. The Brentford goalkeeper is with the Sky Bet League Two side on loan for the first half of the 2017/18 season. The Cumbrian outfit played their neighbours Carlisle City in a pre-season friendly on Saturday, 8 July, and Jack played the first 45 minutes.
Carlisle United won the match 4-0, kicking off their pre-season with a comprehensive victory. The League Two side dominated the match and Jack had very little to do. Carlisle have two more friendlies coming up in the next 48 hours. They play Penrith this evening, Tuesday 11 July, and then Workington tomorrow.
Jack is one of two Brentford players that have agreed loan moves ahead of the 2017/18 season. Konstantin Kerschbaumer is with German second tier side DSC Arminia Bielefeld for the campaign. Their pre-season schedule is already underway and Konstantin played 90 minutes as Arminia beat Russian side Rubin Kazan 4-0 as part of a training camp on Saturday. All four goals were scored in the first half.
Arminia then played another match 24 hours later, losing 1-0 to another Russian side – FK Ufa. Konstantin did not play in that match. Arminia have another match tomorrow when they face FK Pribram from the Czech Republic. Their league season starts at the end of this month.
