Coach travel has been organised for any Brentford fans needing assistance in getting to the new venue for The Bees’ upcoming pre-season friendly against FC Lausanne-Sport. The Bees are currently on a week-long Training Camp in France and were due to play a match at Stade de Mercy de Saint-Prex on Saturday, 15 July. However, after an inspection of the pitch by Head Coach Dean Smith and the First Team staff the playing surface was found to not be good enough and the game will now be played at the Training Camp venue - Complexe Sportif de Divonne-les-Bains sports facilities.
Divonne-les-Bains is slightly closer to Geneva than Saint-Prex. The small town is just on the French side of the border, around 5km from the banks of Lake Geneva. It is around 15km from the centre of Geneva and approximately 40 minutes in a coach from Saint-Prex. The game will kick-off at 4pm local time, 3pm BST, and the Club has organised a coach from Stade de Mercy that will leave at 3pm local time and take fans to Divonne-les-Bains.
As well as the match, there will be a chance to fans to meet the Brentford players and staff afterwards. The squad will be available for autographs and photographs after the final whistle against Lausanne-Sport. Bees fans should be aware that this match is not open to the general public and only Brentford supporters, players’ friends and family and officials from the two clubs are being allowed in.
Robert Rowan, Brentford FC Head of Football Operations, said: “We look forward to welcoming the travelling supporters to Divonne-les-Bains. This is where Dean, his staff and players have been working hard over the last few days and was the most suitable venue for the match at such late notice. It must be noted that this is not a stadium and therefore hospitality won’t be the same but I’m sure it will be enjoyable watching the lads compete in their second pre-season friendly this season.
“The First Team players and Staff will be around after the match should you wish to get some photographs and/or autographs. We ask for our supporters’ full cooperation on arrival at the Training Centre as the Mayor of Divonne-les-Bains has been kind enough to offer us this facility at late notice when it would’ve been easier to say no due to other activities in the area.”
