Fans team heads to tournament this weekend

Bees prepare for WorldNET in Nottingham

13 July 2017

Brentford will be represented again this coming weekend at the annual WorldNET tournament – a football competition for supporters teams from all round the country – and beyond. The tournament is being held this year at the grounds of Nottingham University’s Riverside Complex on Saturday and Sunday, July 15 and 16.

Brentford - Hey Jude BFC - have a team in the Veterans category, designed for players aged 35+ (although each team is allowed two “under-age” players). Group games of 30-minute duration are played on Saturday – Brentford are grouped with Everton, Stockport, Oxford and Halifax. On Sunday, the tournament reverts to "sudden death" knockout with the loser of each match heading home.

The team are pictured here last year following the tournament in Leeds where they were beaten 2-1 by Ipswich, suffering the agony of defeat with virtually the last kick of the game.

You can follow the team’s progress this year on twitter @BrentfordVets.
