The Brentford B team continued their work in Central Europe today, fresh off a team trip to Budapest on Wednesday afternoon.
We caught up with Chris Mepham and Herson Alves after a morning training session to see how things are going and to discuss the 4-0 win over ETO Gyor on Tuesday.
"It was a good game," said Herson, who watched on from the sidelines during the match as he uses this week to continue his rehabilitation from an ankle injury. "It was a good experience for this lot to play against a Hungarian second division team. It was the first game of pre-season so there might be a few little mistakes but it's been good."
Chris added: "I was very happy with the performance, as Herson said, it was our first 45 minutes of the year so your touch is going to be a bit rusty at times and you're not going to play to the best of your ability.
"Getting through 45 minutes without injuries is the most important thing. Defensively I thought we could have been better but on the whole, keeping a clean sheet, we can't be too disappointed."
iFollow spoke to the pair on day six of their week-long Training Camp in Hungary, an experience that Herson has enjoyed.
"It's been good," said the Portuguese winger. "To come away to a different country is nice, we went to Denmark twice last year and that was good, but this year we've come here and the facilities are really good so I can't complain.
"Fitness wise I'm getting better all the time, it's my first week of doing contact since coming back from injury. Obviously I can't play games because it's too soon but other than that I'm looking forward to getting back on the pitch."
Centre-back Chris played nearly an hour in Tuesday evening's encounter with Gyor, he is looking forward to another test on Friday when they face MSK Zilina Under-23s.
"We're a bit tight here and there but it's pre-season so it's to be expected," said Chris. "I think from the coaches' point of view it's not the worst thing for players to be tight because it shows we've been putting in the hard work and effort during the course of the training week.
"Getting through another 45 minutes, maybe a bit longer for some of us, would be good and hopefully we'll get another result.
"We've brought in a load of new boys, who are all really nice and have added to the group. I think it's really important when new players come in that they bring something to the table and I think each and every one of them brings a different character."
Herson added: "Coming into a new team is not easy, for them to come in and settle quick is good for them."
