Memorable FA Cup ties

25 January 2017

Ahead of Saturday's trip to Chelsea, we look back at four memorable ties against higher division opponents

Brentford 3 Manchester City 1 - FA Cup Fourth Round 28.01.89

A double from Gary Blissett and one for Keith Jones saw The Bees march past Division Two City and into the last 16 of the FA Cup

Blackburn Rovers 0 Brentford 2 - FA Cup Fifth Round 18.02.89

Gary Blissett was at it again as his double sunk Rovers and saw Steve Perryman lead The Bees to the FA Cup Quarter Finals for the first time in 40 years

Southampton 2 Brentford 2 - FA Cup Fifth Round 19.02.05

2-0 down, after Henri Camara's double, just before half-time at Premier League Southampton it looked very much like the match was going according to the form book. However, Isaiah Rankin's brilliant individual goal and Sam Sodje's header earned Martin Allen's side a replay at Griffin Park

Brentford 2 Sunderland 1 - FA Cup Fourth Round 28.01.06

DJ Campbell scored both goals, either side of Julio Arca's strike for The Black Cats, as Premier League Sunderland were downed at Griffin Park. The win booked The Bees spot in the Fifth Round for the second year running and earned DJ Campbell a move to the Premier League.
