B Team Head Coach speaks ahead of tournament opener
B Team Head Coach Kevin O'Connor is hoping to see a good performance from his side in tomorrow's Kai Thor Cup in Denmark. The 34-year-old in charge of Brentford's second squad believes that The Bees have every chance of getting to the final on Sunday.
"I think it'll be tough," said Kevin, speaking to brentfordfc.co.uk at the team's hotel in Odense. "There are some good teams involved in this competition but I believe we have enough about us to produce some good results."
Brentford B will open the tournament against Esbjerg in the second game of the two-day event, before facing Hamburg in a late kick-off that afternoon. The B Team have been training on the pitch for four days to prepare as best they can for the challenge it poses.
Kevin has been impressed by the atmosphere around the group, admitting that he has seen a lot from his squad that makes him optimistic ahead of the opening tie.
"We've had a good week of training building up to it," said Kevin. "Everyone's been really positive and now it's about taking that attitude into Friday's games.
"All season we've been telling the boys to impose their style on the other teams and tomorrow will be no different. I know what I expect of the boys and they know what we want from them, so we just need to settle early and give our best from the start of each game."
The Bees kick-off their Kai Thor Cup campaign tomorrow, at 14:00 English time. The Hamburg SV fixture takes place at 16:30 the same day.
