New B Team striker reflects on his move to Griffin Park
Jan Novak said it was an easy decision to swap Nogometni Klub Krka for Brentford as he became the latest signing for Kevin O’Connor’s B Team squad. The striker, who agreed an 18-month deal at Griffin Park earlier this afternoon, came through the ranks with the Slovenian side and had recently broken into their first-team. However, he said the lure of playing some of the biggest teams in Europe with Brentford B was too good to turn down.
Speaking to Bees Player after signing, Jan said: “Brentford is a big club and have a lot of good players so I am very happy to sign here. The B Team have a lot of big games and that was a big motivation for joining. If you are playing against great clubs like Bayern Munich then that is a great opportunity. Kevin O’Connor is a good coach and a good person so he will help me. It was an easy decision to join.”
The 19-year-old is no stranger to Jersey Road, having spent an extended period on trial with The Bees earlier this season. Jan said he was made to feel very welcome when he was here in the summer and he is looking forward to getting to grips with English football again.
“It was a great time when I was here on trial before.,” said Jan. “I got to meet the players and they were very welcoming to me which was good. The standard of football is more difficult than in Slovenia. The game here is much faster. It will be hard but I will do my best. I have played a bit of first-team football in Slovenia which will help me a lot. I want to score a lot of goals, improve my game, and help my teammates while I am here to get into the first-team.”
