Get fit and represent Brentford

Brentford FC Community Sports Trust is offering Brentford fans the opportunity to represent The Bees and to get healthy with the award-winning free fanActiv programme, which starts on 13 February 2017.

If you are a Brentford fan, male, aged 30 and over, want to lose weight and become more active, you could be chosen for our team and receive support in a programme of healthy eating and physical activity to make lasting lifestyle changes. fanActiv won the Making it Easier award at the London Sport Awards for 2017 held this month.  This was for projects which have used technology to get people involved in sport and exercise.

What is fanActiv?

fanActiv is a free healthy lifestyle programme aimed at engaging football fans from the following clubs, which in addition to Brentford, include: Fulham, Tottenham Hotspur, Watford, Crystal Palace, Queens Park Rangers, Leyton Orient, Charlton Athletic, and AFC Wimbledon.

Each participant’s club will engage with others in attempt to foster competitive spirit with the intention of losing weight and being advised on how to lead a healthier lifestyle. The Sports Trust hopes that Brentford fans can be top of the fanActiv weight-loss league for 2017!

Who is fanActiv for?

•    Male Brentford fans
•    Aged 30 and over
•    Overweight and/or inactive

What’s in the programme?

fanActiv will support fans through a 12-week healthy lifestyles programme that take place in the evening. Over the ten weeks each participant will receive:

•    A free Fitbit physical activity tracker
•    Healthy eating and diet workshops at Griffin Park with a qualified dietician
•    Fitness sessions at Osterley Athletics Track with a Brentford FC Personal Trainer
•    Five-a-side football (matches versus Fulham and Queens Park Rangers plus training sessions)
•    Training Ground visit

fanActiv is funded by the Healthy London Partnership and the Clubs and is free to join for participants. Brentford fan Ash Packer took part in last year’s programme and said: “I found the support I received from the Brentford fanActiv team really helpful.  It made me get fitter and lose the weight that I wanted – and even more! I would recommend it to anyone in my position.  Also, being part of a group meant meeting new friends and the best thing was taking on the Fulham fanActiv group at five-a-side.”
