New signing Florian Jozefzoon gives his first interview after joining The Bees
Florian Jozefzoon thinks that English football will help bring the best out of him after he completed his move from PSV Eindhoven to Brentford earlier today. The 25-year-old winger signed a six-month contract at Griffin Park, with the option of a further year, after four years with the Dutch giants, and feels his game is suited to the cut an thrust of the English game.
Speaking to Bees Player after signing, Florian said: “It is very nice to be in England, which is a tough competition physically, so I was very happy to join. I think my speed will come off well here and I think my style will suit the English competition. I like to play forward, attacking football and put pressure on the defender. When we have the ball I like to make plays and attack.”
Florian was involved in all-but-two of PSV's Dutch League and UEFA Champions League squads this season but only featured from the bench five times. Now, having moved across the channel to England he is keen to show what he is capable of in the Sky Bet Championship and earn an extension to his current deal.
“I am very happy because Brentford have given me an opportunity to prove myself and show what I am capable of,” said Florian. “As a football player you always have pressure to perform, especially if you are new at a club. It is normal to feel pressure but it is on me to play my game and to show what I am capable of.”
The former Dutch Under-21 international trained with his new teammates for the first-time this morning in the build up to tomorrow’s Emirates FA Cup tie against Chelsea with Florian pleased at how training, and his first day in general, went.
“It was very nice to meet the boys and the first training session went well,” said Florian. “It was good to be able to meet the players on the pitch so overall it has been nice. Training was good as it’s the day before a match and I felt I fitted in quite well.”
