Fullback reflects on first 60 minutes in Brentford colours
Rico Henry marked his return to action with 60 minutes of game time for Brentford B against Queens Park Rangers on Tuesday afternoon.
The 19-year-old signed for The Bees in the summer of 2016 but underwent surgery to stabilise a shoulder injury and has not been part of Dean Smith's squad so far this season.
Returning to training a few weeks ago, his appearance in Kevin O'Connor's side at left-back was his first in a competitive environment for the Club. He was clearly pleased to be back on the field.
"It felt good," said Rico. "I've been training with the First Team to get sharp and playing with the B Team I feel even better. It's good getting back after five months, hopefully I can do it for the First Team.
"Watching from the side, you just want to get on the pitch and play. You just want to help the players."
The B Team were defeated 2-0 by their local rivals, who played a strong squad with plenty of top level experience between them. Despite the result, Rico was content with his afternoon's work and is now looking forward to some healthy competition with Tom Field.
"Personally I felt I did well, I feel sharp and I feel ready. We could have done better as a team obviously.
"Coming back from a long term injury, it's a big step playing with the First Team straight away so it's good to have a B Team to play games with before you return.
"I think competition is always good, Tom is doing well. I just want to get back and hopefully compete with him."
