Loan Round-Up

6 February 2017

Three draws for The Bees out on loan this weekend

All three of Brentford's loanees had to settle for draws this weekend as the latest round of fixtures in England and Germany took place.

Emmanuel Onariase and Cheltenham Town were denied back-to-back league wins as Newport County scored in injury time to take a share of the spoils at the LCI Rail Stadium on Saturday. After last Tuesday's 3-2 win at Luton Town, Manny continued at the heart of The Robins' defence as Gary Johnson's side looked to put more distance between themselves and the bottom two. Kyle Wootton scored on the hour to put Town ahead on the hour but Janaai Gordon denied them the precious three points three minutes into injury time with a close range finish. The point leaves Cheltenham 20th in Sky Bet League Two, four points above the relegation zone.

In Germany, Andy Gogia was absent from the SG Dynamo Dresden line-up due to injury as they were held to a 0-0 draw at home to 1.FC Union Berlin on Sunday. In a game of few chances, the best of them came in the second-half, as Jakob Buck denied Niklas Hauptmann from close range for the hosts while Toni Leistner headed over from close range late on for Berlin. The point leaves Dresden fifth in the 2.Bundesliga table, four points off the top three ahead of next Sunday's trip to St Pauli.

Jan Holldack played 90 minutes as SV Wuppertaler drew 0-0 with SSVg Velbert 02 in their final pre-season game ahead of the resumption of the Regionalliga West next weekend. The best of the chances came in the final five minutes as Yordi Teijsse headed over from a corner for the home side before SSVg's Christian Schlösser fired over from long-range. SVW restart their league campaign with a home game against Fortuna Düsseldorf U23 on Friday night.
