Brentford players named in Teams of the Week

6 February 2017

Harlee Dean and Manny Onariase included after weekend's performances

There were accolades for two Brentford defenders this weekend as Harlee Dean and Emmanuel Onariase were named in the Championship Team of the Week and the Football League Paper League Two Team of the week respectively.

Harlee, who was making his 200th EFL appearance for The Bees, was included after scoring in Sunday's dramatic 3-3 Sky Bet Championship draw against Brighton and Hove Albion at Griffin Park. The Bees led 2-0 heading into the final quarter of an hour thanks to Harlee's header and a early goal for Jota but Chris Hughton's men leveled with two goals in three minutes. Konstantin Kerschbaumer's first goal in English football then looked to have secured the points once more in injury time but again Brighton hit back, Tomer Hemed levelling in the seventh minute of time added on. Sunday's match saw Harlee win more aerial battles, six, than anyone else on the pitch and he also made 17 clearances, another match-high.

Manny, who is on loan with Sky Bet League Two side Cheltenham Town, was selected after his performance in The Robins' 1-1 draw at home to Newport County on Saturday. Gary Johnson's side opened the scoring on the hour through Kyle Wootton but had to defend manfully as County pressed in the closing stages. It looked like Manny and his teammates had done enough to secure a crucial three points in the League Two relegation battle but Janaai Gordon denied them the win in the third minute of injury time.
