Jack Bonham and Carlisle United set up an Emirates FA Cup Third Round tie at home to Sky Bet Championship side Sheffield Wednesday after seeing off Gillingham in their second-round replay at Brunton Park last night.
Hallam Hope’s deflected shot gave the home side an early lead and the former-Everton man made it 2-0 with a close-range finish before the interval. Scott Wagstaff halved the arrears just after the break as The Gills pressed for a leveller. Jack was by far the busier of the keepers in the second-half but The Cumbrians secured passage late on thanks to Jamie Devitt’s powerful finish.
Next up for Jack is a trip to the West Country on Saturday as Carlisle United take on Forest Green at The New Lawn. Elsewhere, Zain Westbrooke and Leyton Orient head to Maidstone United on Saturday while Tom Field’s Bradford City are also on the road, this time at AFC Wimbledon.
