Kerschbaumer's goal and assist not enough in Bielefeld defeat

The latest from our four players out on loan this weekend

Konstantin Kerschbaumer scored one and set one up but it was all in vain as DSC Arminia Bielefeld slid to a 3-2 defeat at SSV Jahn Regensburg on Saturday.

The visitors started well and were rewarded after 12 minutes as Kerschbaumer's ball through to Andreas Voglsammer was clinically finished by the German front-man. However, that lead was erased two minutes later by Benedikt Gimber before Marco Gruttner fired SSV ahead midway through the half. A Florian Hartherz own-goal in the final quarter of an hour settled matters despite Konstantin's injury-time goal, his third in four matches. The German league now goes into a six-week winter break with DSC in ninth-place, eight points off the promotion places. In his 17 appearances so far this campaign, Konstantin has scored five goals and contributed three assists.

In Sky Bet League Two, Jack played the full 90 minutes as Carlisle United were beaten 2-1 at home by Port Vale on Saturday. After a goalless first-half, The Valiants struck twice straight after the break: Tyrone Barnett and Tom Pope on target. Richie Bennett pulled one back for The Cumbrians late on but Keith Curle's side couldn't find a leveller in the dying stages. Defeat leaves Carlisle in 14th, without a win in four games, ahead of Tuesday's Emirates FA Cup Second Round replay with Gillingham.

Elswhere, Zain Westbrooke and Tom Field both weren't in the matchday squads as Leyton Orient and Bradford City recorded 2-1 wins on the road. Orient beat Haringey Borough in the FA Trophy First Round while The Bantams beat Southend United in Sky Bet League One.
