Kevin O'Connor was happy with his side's 3-2 win over Barnet U23 on Tuesday afternoon. The B Team Head Coach spoke to iFollow after the final whistle to give his thoughts on a narrow victory.
"I was pleased," said Kevin. "We went three-nil up. It's a tight pitch so it was important that we pressed with aggression and won the ball back, and we did that really well.
"The way we controlled the ball when playing out from the back was pleasing as well so I was happy."
Speaking before the game, Kevin said he wanted to see a quicker start from his players. He told us he was impressed by what he saw against Barnet.
"The boys took on board what we have worked at all week and they put it into practice. We went out and scored a couple of goals early on to give them the confidence that they needed to then kick on and play well for the whole game."
Alan Judge made a scoring return to action by playing 45 minutes for O'Connor's side at The Hive London. Kevin was clearly happy to see his former teammate back in red and white.
"It was very nice," said Kevin. "I want to see him in the First Team obviously, but it was brilliant to have him today. He really helped our boys and showed his class, even though he's been out for so long. He's got a touch of class about him."
Barnet did work their way back into the game in the final 10 minutes, something Kevin wasn't hugely disappointed with.
"I think we switched off when they won something in the corner. It was about four or five yards away from where it should have been, so we switched off ever so slighty. It's not going to take away from the performance. I think it was very good today.
"We're pleased with the win because we've lost some games, so it was nice to get back to winning ways and build the confidence going into the next game."
