Midfielder Josh McEachran was full of praise for the Brentford crowd after the squad completed a 2-1 win over Aston Villa on Tuesday night. The 24-year-old spoke to iFollow about the match, the opposition and the stormy conditions.
"It was very wet and slippy out there," said Josh, speaking after the game. "We have played better this season but I thought we did play well. Obviously it was a great result and Villa are a top team, one of the biggest teams in the Championship, so it was great for us."
The result was the second 2-1 win in a week after the Norwich victory on Friday night. Middle man Josh discussed this run of form as well as holding on to the lead in a tense final few minutes.
"We've not really been looking at ways to hold on to the win," said Josh. "We just want to win as comfortably as possible but I think we've got better. Since the Queens Park Rangers game we have learned to see out games a lot better.
"It was tough. We got the goal from Romaine [Sawyers] and they scored after about five or ten minutes. It was tough after that but luckily we got the result and Lasse [Vibe] scored again so in the end it was good."
Starting the game, Josh made his 16th appearance in the league this season, which is a tally he is hoping to keep improving.
"Of course, I've been in and out with injury," he said. "This is the second match at home in a row that I have started, so hopefully I'll go into Saturday and get confidence there. I need to get momentum and hopefully play now."
Asked about the contribution from members of the squad playing out of position, like Nico Yennaris and Yoann Barbet, Josh said: "Look at how they are playing, they are unbelievable. It just shows the character at the moment of the team, everyone is doing their job for everyone else so there's a good spirit at the moment.
"Also, the atmosphere tonight was unbelievable, so that's a credit to the fans. We can hear them and that pushes us on, so that was really good."
Brentford play Sheffield Wednesday in a few days on Saturday 30 December, a game that Josh is looking forward to.
"We are very confident, we have got two good results now going into Sheffield Wednesday, which is another home game. We're looking to pick up three points."
