Brentford FC Futsal Club who compete in the English Football League Trust Futsal South East Championship now know their FA Futsal Cup First Round opponents. The Futsal Bees will play Hampshire based Spanglish Futsal Club on Saturday 31 March 2018 at Brunel University Sports Hall with a 10.30am kick off. Only two Football League Trust Futsal sides have made the last 32 of the competition, domestic Futsal’s premier cup competition.
The Bees have only been matches by Grimsby Town in reaching this stage from the FLT sides so this is major achievement getting this far. Brentford had to qualify in the London FA Futsal Cup regional qualification to reach the First Round.
Futsal Head Coach Luis Melville said: "To reach this far by qualifying against teams with a lot of Futsal experience is a big achievement for our young squad. Now we face a challenge against a team that have good Futsal players but we are improving game by game and will prepare as we would for any other game with the aim of winning. Our incentive is that we could face a Super League team in the next round and this will give us added focus over the lead up to the game against Spanglish and having previously reached an FA Futsal Cup Final as Head Coach of Vaughans Futsal Club, I know how special this competition is."
More details about the tie will follow.
