Brentford B midfield player Reece Cole has completed a loan move to Sky Bet League Two Newport County, subject to international clearance.
The 19-year-old signed for the South Wales club after being part of the matchday squad for Brentford’s Caribao Cup win over AFC Wimbledon on Tuesday, 8 August. He has linked up with Newport this morning, Thursday, and should be available for their game against Crewe Alexandra on Saturday.
Reece made his professional debut in Brentford’s Sky Bet Championship win over Nottingham Forest last season and has been involved in First Team pre-season friendlies this summer. He scored in wins over Aldershot Town and Oxford United and also played in the draw against Southampton at Griffin Park. He was an unused substitute in the win at Wimbledon last night. Reece will stay at Newport until 1 January 2018.
Rob Rowan, Brentford FC Head of Football Operations, said: “The development process for every footballer is different and in this context, we believe that Reece will benefit from a loan experience to enhance his chances of graduating to the First Team.
"I'm excited to watch him in League Two. Our supporters have seen snippets of what he can do in pre-season with his free kicks and long distance goals but there is more to Reece than that and hopefully he will demonstrate that at Newport whilst maintaining his goal scoring.”
