Brentford vs Bristol City, Griffin Park, Sky Bet Championship, 7.45pm
After a tricky winter period, Bristol survived relegation with a strong run at the end of last season. Beginning April with a 2-0 defeat to Brentford and then a 5-0 loss to Preston, they recovered well to win four in five of their last few games. The 17/18 campaign started with a 3-1 win over Barnsley, Bobby Reid and Famara Diedhiou netting at Ashton Gate.
Five more goals came in the EFL Cup, a 5-0 win over Plymouth Argyle seeing them through to a Second Round match against Watford at Vicarage Road. On Saturday they suffered a first defeat of the new season, going down 2-1 to Birmingham City. Reid scored after only a couple of minutes, his third of the season, but The Blues came back to win despite going down to ten men.
Lee Johnson joined Bristol in February 2016, keeping them clear of relegation last season by three points. A midfielder in his playing days, Lee played for Brighton, Yeovil, Hearts, Bristol City and several others. Four years ago he was appointed as Manager of Oldham Athletic, where he managed a young James Tarkowski before his sale to The Bees.Almost a year later he joined Barnsley before then moving on to Bristol 12 months later.
