News, views, and more ahead of tomorrow's match at Cardiff City Stadium
Cardiff City v Brentford
Saturday 08 April
Cardiff City Stadium
Sky Bet Championship
Since 2004, with the exception of one season in the Premier League, Cardiff have been a Sky Bet Championship side. On average, they have been a mid-table side and haven't been in real danger of relegation for several years. This season, as expected, they sit 14th with six games to go. They had a March that was very much a reflection on their current league position; drawing two, winning one and losing another. Last weekend they came away from Molineux empty handed as Wolves' Danny Batth struck twice in a 3-1 home win, while on Tuesday night nothing could separate City and Barnsley.
Neil Warnock was appointed by The Bluebirds in October following a poor start to the 2016/17 season saw them sack Paul Trollope. His previous spell was with Rotherham United but he has also held roles at Crystal Palace, Sheffield United, Queens Park Rangers and Leeds United.
As a player, he was a winger who started his career at Chesterfield. He played over 300 professional matches at clubs including Rotherham, Scunthorpe United, Barnsley and York City, retiring at the age of 30 to take up coaching.
