Loan Round-Up

10 April 2017

Catch up with the latest from our players out on loan this weekend

Emmanuel Onariase played 90 minutes for Cheltenham Town as they moved a point closer to safety in Sky Bet League Two after a 3-3 draw at Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday. Billy Waters and Harry Pell netted in the opening quarter of an hour as The Robins raced into a 2-0 lead. However, Garry Thompson scored twice before the break, either side of Jordan Cranston’s sending off for Town, and Joe Jacobson added a late penalty as Wycombe turned it around. But the scoring wasn’t done yet as Town rescued a point with seven minutes to play: Waters converting from close range after his initial penalty had been saved. With Newport County’s win, Gary Johnson’s side are now just four points above the drop zone with five matches to play, starting with a trip to Crawley Town on Good Friday.

Neither Jan Holldack or Andy Gogia played for SV Wuppertaler or Dynamo Dresden respectively in their latest fixtures due to injury. In Jan’s absence SVW fell to a 1-0 defeat away at Siegen in the Regionalliga West on Saturday. Marco Rente scored the only goal for the hosts six minutes in the second-half as Wuppertaler drop to ninth in the table ahead of Thursday’s home game against Wattenscheid.

There is better news for Andy Gogia as he looks set to be included in the Dresden squad for the first time since suffering an ankle injury back in January for tonight’s trip to third placed Eintracht Braunschweig. Andy missed last Wednesday’s 2-1 win over 1. FC Heidenheim which kept Dresden in touch with the promotion spots and a win tonight would leave Dynamo just three points off the top three in their debut season back in the second tier.
